 સન ૧૧૭૩ પછી ૫ -૧૦ વરસમાં ઇતિહાસમાં કૈંક એવું બનવાનું હતું કે જેને કોઈ પણ ભૂલી જ ના શકે. ઈતિહાસ એટલે જ અનિશ્ચિતતાઓ ! પછી એ ગુજરાત હોય કે સમગ્ર ભારતવર્ષ! ઇતિહાસની સાલવારીઓ આની ગવાહ છે. ૧૨મી સદીના ૭૩ વર્ષ તો ગુજરાતમાં સુવર્ણ અક્ષરે અંકિત થઇ જ ચુક્યા હતાં. શું બાકીના ૨૭ વરસ પણ સુવર્ણ અક્ષરે લખવાના હતાં ? આનો જવાબ તો આવનારો સમય જ આપી શકે એમ હતો ! સમય આગળ કોઈનું કશું ચાલતું નથી હોતું. સમગ્ર પાટણમાં એક જ પ્રશ્ન ગુંજતો હતો કે રાજા કુમારપાળ પછી કોણ રાજા થશે અને તે કેવો નીવડશે !
